Do you find that while out riding with your pals that your back aches, your hands hurt, and your legs give out before the end of your ride? Do your friends still zip past you going up hills? Do you think your only options are to buy a new bike, make weekly visits to the chiropractor, or pop bottles of aspirin before and after a ride? Well bucko, maybe it’s not your bike that’s getting old, or your body that needs adjusting, but how the two of you fit together!
Whether it’s a new bike or old bike, how you fit on it is key to performance and comfort. Our speaker for February is Joe Lo Porto, from Ramapo Rally sponsor “Fit Werx”, located in Teaneck, NJ. There’s a lot more to fitting a rider to a bike than measuring a few angles. Things like body proportions, riding habits, range of motion, performance goals, and past injuries are just some of the factors that go into adjusting the bike’s cockpit to fit the rider. Joe will be bringing some of his fitting equipment along to demonstrate just what it is that they do so you can get the most out of your bike.
Joe will also be distributing discount coupons to BTCNJ members. This will be a presentation you won’t what to miss.
And as long as we’re talking about correct fit, Andres will have sample jerseys for you 2014 ride leaders that have earned a leader jersey, to try on for determining your size. Don’t risk having your hard earned jersey make you look like a sack of potatoes or a sausage about to split open. Come and see what size fits you best and be the snazziest leader on the road.
And thanks to Carol Raff for serving up the refreshments for February’s meeting. SPOILER ALERT: We’ll be having cake to celebrate BTCNJ’s 37th Anniversary.
